A strong system design interview can compensate for a mediocre coding round, and at L5+ levels, it often carries the most weight in the hiring decision.

Instead of learning "the answer" to "Design Twitter," you will understand the components (load balancers, caches, message queues, databases) deeply enough to assemble them into solutions for any problem.
